The Malawi National Darts Trials are currently taking place at the Civo Darts Arena in Lilongwe, with more than 50 players from across the country competing for the chance to represent Malawi on the international stage.
The competition comes at a time when excitement around the sport continues to grow, following Malawi's impressive performance at the recent WDF World Cup Qualifiers. Representing the nation, Rodgers Zako and Carneige Mkwandawire delivered an outstanding performance to secure a silver medal and second-place finish, helping to reignite darts fever across the country while inspiring a new generation of players.
One of the standout moments of the ongoing trials has come from Austin Chingagwe of the Southern Region Darts League, who recorded a remarkable 15-dart leg. Mike Chipwepwete of the Central Region Darts League has also looked in excellent form during the trials, registering a number of legs in the teens, including an impressive 17-dart leg. These are some of the achievements ranking among the major highlights of the tournament so far and reflect the high standard of competition on display.
With players from the Northern, Central and Southern regions all vying for national team selection, the trials are showcasing the growing depth and quality of darts talent in Malawi.
